Michelle + Mike Forever

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

As promised a few months ago, we are finally posting one of our favorite weddings.  Michelle and Mike were not only a totally amazing couple to work with, but their style was completely unique and fantastically glamorous.  We also must mention, they were pretty darn smart too because they secured one of our favorite photographers, Jennifer Lindberg, to capture every magical moment of their special day.

The design for Michelle and Mike’s wedding was contemporary with accents of magenta and papaya.  Florist Coby Neal emphasized the use of magenta and white orchids, mango callas, apricot roses and colored aluminum wiring to create structural and massive floral designs.  Each floral arrangement, particularly the Bride’s bouquet, was absolutely breathtaking.

The ceremony, held at Rough Hollow Yacht Club, included incredible views, artistic floral arrangements, and custom details.  As the Bride made her way down the aisle, Divisi Strings played her favorite song by Iron & Wine, “Sunset Soon Forgotten.”  After the ceremony, the newlyweds had a quick costume change and arrived at their reception (at the Lakeway Resort and Spa) only to be surprised by their favorite DJ entertainer, Sammy T.  Sammy T got the party dancing for the rest of the night with live songs mixed with club and electronica vibes.

At the end of the night, an amazing fireworks display from the Vistas Ballroom balcony offered the perfect closure to a perfect evening.

Thank you Michelle and Mike for including us in your special day!

Inspiration: Red Hot Wedding

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Planning a Valentine’s Day themed wedding? Red is not only the traditional route for this wedding style, it’s also a color that is totally versatile.  This hot hue can be a part of any kind of wedding from modern and edgy to rustic and relaxed.  We love red for it’s ability to give a huge amount of color, even when included in the smallest details.  It’s also an ideal wedding color because it can be paired with almost any color and look totally fabulous.

We would like to take a moment to obsess over a recent article from WedLuxe, Canada’s Luxury Wedding Magazine.  The magazine put together a few divine inspiration boards including styles from three truly iconic fashion designers – Coco Chanel, Philip Treacy, and Ralph Lauren.  The Philip Treacy iconic style takes the recent trend of purple and feathers to an entirely new level.  Enjoy the below images, courtesy of WedLuxe.com

Jacky + Peter Forever

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Jacky and Peter were such a special couple to us.  The sweetness of this couple made them a true joy to work with.   Jacky, Peter, and most of their guests lived in Houston, so while this was a destination wedding, it still included all the comforts of home.  The wedding was designed to have a classic style with accents of white, green, and papaya with a subtle outdoor rustic feel.  We emphasized the use of hydrangea and satin ribbons creating soft, bountiful floral arrangements scattered throughout the event.

Two days prior to the outdoor ceremony, to be held at the Hyatt Lost Pines‘ Riversong Lawn, a realization that there was a high chance of rain encouraged us to have a tent set up and to bring in 40 umbrellas for guests.  Despite the pouring rain throughout the day, the wedding was perfect.  The guests pulled up their hems…rolled up their trousers and had a blast running in the rain, making this day even more memorable.

The reception, hosted in the Baron’s Ballroom inside the Hyatt, was accentuated with the soft floral arrangements, in addition to the floral balls of large white garden roses which hung from the ceiling.  Being a true Texas couple, Jacky and Peter chose to serve delicious comfort food including a “mini slider” station.  Their reception also offered some fun aspects that were unique to the couple including a “make your own trail mix” bar with custom bags for their guests to take home treats and a photo booth with props that allowed the guests to dress up and create a custom photo book for the couple.  For their guests, the Bride donated to her employer, the HOPE organization, by providing favors of handmade bracelets that were made by African artisans. Finally, as the couple made their exit, their guests sent them off with a trail of 300 sparklers.

The beautiful images below were captured by Jenn, from Jennifer Lindberg Weddings.  All floral arrangements were artfully created by Floral Renaissance of Austin.

Inspiration: A Wedding in the Woodlands

David Stark, of David Stark Design in New York City, says that he is “always thinking of ways to re-use discarded objects or to see everyday, humble items in a new light,” and he has done just that with this fabulously green decor idea.  When passing a pile of cut logs, Mr. Stark’s creative juices were put to work.  For a wedding planned by David Stark in Maine, he and his team created a 30 foot by 10 foot wall of stacked logs for the band’s backdrop and the focal point of the room.  While this idea is absolutely stunning, remember that it’s not so glamorous if you cut down the trees specifically for this – so keep this concept green by only using already cut trees.

Inspiration: Colin Cowie's Indian Fantasy Wedding

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Colin Cowie designed a traditional Indian wedding for a couple and, as usual, we are in love.  Colin Cowie’s designs are always glamorous and this wedding is no different.  After the ceremony, the mandap was transformed into a stage for the sweetheart table for the bride and groom during the reception.

Svetha + Chase Forever

Indian wedding 1

Svetha and Chase were married in a traditional Indian ceremony in Austin, TX this August and Kate, from Kate Mefford Photography, was there to capture every fantastic moment.

The couple had a great vision for their wedding from the fantastic colors of the ceremony to the peacock feather theme which was carried out through the stationary and reception decor.  Svetha and Chase, who lived in Beijing throughout the majority of the planning, knew exactly what kind of atmosphere they wanted to create for their special day.  Svetha wanted to incorporate both her and Chase’s cultures by having a traditional Indian ceremony and an elegant American reception.

The ceremony, held at the Driskill Hotel, included exotic colors, detailed fabrics and beautiful floral accents.

It was very important to them to make sure everyone understood the meaning behind each of the ceremony’s traditions and feel a part of the celebration.  To help the wedding party and guests recognize the significance of each aspect of the ceremony, we put together an information booklet explaining the beliefs pertaining to the various customs.

All the stationary, printed by Party Cat in Austin, featured a peacock feather which was then carried through the reception décor.

The reception, which was held at the Renaissance Hotel’s Glass Oaks Ballroom, had an elegant American style with an Indian flair.  The reception included peacock pattern sheer overlays and centerpieces sculpted with Picasso calla lilies, white spray roses, white orchids, and peacock feathers.
