Charting the Open Waters

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

We are so excited to post pictures from a recent event that was a total blast to design and produce. With only two weeks notice, the client requested a custom design centered around “navigating new waters” and was thrilled when we came up with a pirate theme. The event took place on the 33rd floor of an unfinished sky rise in downtown Austin, giving us a challenging yet interesting space for the design. We brought in our fabulous lounge furniture and light-up bars for a totally modern vibe. Black and white striped linens and pops of pirate-red brought the theme to life. The event included custom lighting, pirate-themed backdrops and props, specialty signage and a 360 degree view of our beautiful city.

Special thank you to Kim Francois Photography for sharing the event photos!

We are so excited to post pictures from a recent event that was a total blast to design and produce.  With only a couple of weeks notice, the client requested a custom design centered around “setting sail” and allowed us to expand it into a pirate and sea theme.   The event took place on the 33rd floor of an unfinished building in downtown Austin, giving us the perfect canvas for the design.  We were able to bring in our fabulous lounge furniture for a totally modern vibe and include pops of pirate-red throughout the venue.  The event included custom lighting, pirate ship centerpieces and a 360 view of the beautiful city of Austin.

Inspiration: Sweet Pink and Yellow

Monday, February 8th, 2010

If you’re planning any kind of party this spring, a super cute and festive color scheme we have fallen for is a pink and yellow.  This sweet color palette is perfect for a bridal party, baby shower, or anything in between.  The combination of the soft pink and bright yellow is a perfect spring-time fit with a flirty flare that can be pretty easy to accomplish.

Lakeway Wedding Soire

Monday, February 1st, 2010

We were fortunate enough to sponsor a fabulous event here in Austin called the Lakeway Wedding Soiree.  The beautiful Lakeway Resort & Spa was only made even more magnificent by the perfect weather, giving the event a breathtaking view.  Our lounge furniture was displayed in two large lounge areas with décor and floral design accents by Strong Productions, Brenda Abbott Floral Design, Floral Renaissance and Exquisite Petals.  Wedding and Event Planners from Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas attended and were able to mingle while enjoying the fabulous menu by Lakeway Resort & Spa.  A gorgeous cake design that emulated the bodice of a wedding dress was created by the always impressive Simon Lee Bakery.

The room was divided into three separate themes….an outdoor chic foyer, a white with orange and fuschia accents theme and a black with silver, green & fuschia accents.  This was such a fun event to sponsor and participate in, we look forward to next year!

Inspiration: NEAWP and Colin Cowie

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The Kennedy Creative team attended a recent Nuptial Essentials Association of Wedding Professionals (NEAWP) convention where Colin Cowie was the keynote speaker. It was so great to have the opportunity to meet Colin Cowie and hear the stories about his career and events.

He told the crowd about his favorite three weddings of this year, one being Alyssa Milano’s glamorous nuptials. We were able to see pictures of quite a few of Colin Cowie’s multi-million dollar weddings and, as you can imagine, we were in wedding heaven. Our favorite part of the event was the open question and answer session with Colin.  The audience was given an opportunity to ask questions and Colin candidly answered.

It was during the Q & A that we all learned how he got his start in the celebrity events business and his unfortunate mishap with a destroyed cake on his very first wedding.

While going through our event photos,  we came across a couple of centerpieces used for events last year that has a fabulous fall flair. These floral arrangements are a great inspiration for your own fall table centerpieces.

This centerpiece brings the beautiful, rustic fall colors into your home with the elegance of a rose arrangement.  The red and orange roses combined with the spray of berries is a perfect focal point for your fall soiree.

Svetha + Chase Forever

Indian wedding 1

Svetha and Chase were married in a traditional Indian ceremony in Austin, TX this August and Kate, from Kate Mefford Photography, was there to capture every fantastic moment.

The couple had a great vision for their wedding from the fantastic colors of the ceremony to the peacock feather theme which was carried out through the stationary and reception decor.  Svetha and Chase, who lived in Beijing throughout the majority of the planning, knew exactly what kind of atmosphere they wanted to create for their special day.  Svetha wanted to incorporate both her and Chase’s cultures by having a traditional Indian ceremony and an elegant American reception.

This is one of our favorite photo’s of the day, we love the candid smiles and unique location!

The ceremony, held at the Driskill Hotel, included exotic colors, detailed fabrics and beautiful floral accents.

It was very important to them to make sure everyone understood the meaning behind each of the ceremony’s traditions and feel a part of the celebration.  To help the wedding party and guests recognize the significance of each aspect of the ceremony, we put together an information booklet explaining the beliefs pertaining to the various customs.

All the stationary, printed by Party Cat in Austin, featured a peacock feather which was then carried through the reception décor.

The reception, which was held at the Renaissance Hotel’s Glass Oaks Ballroom, had an elegant American style with an Indian flair.  The reception included peacock pattern sheer overlays and centerpieces sculpted with Picasso calla lilies, white spray roses, white orchids, and peacock feathers.
