Corporate Holiday Party at ACL Live

SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER!
In the midst of holiday season, between Christmas shopping, family vacations and end of the year to-do’s, we can’t forget the infamous Company Holiday Party. Everyone looks forward to the time spent mingling with coworkers and maybe even having a cocktail with your boss! It’s all about enjoying a moment without work! We love helping our clients create a fun holiday gathering to celebrate their company’s success and praise the employees who make it all happen.

This year we produced a holiday party at ACL Live at the Moody Theater for one of our favorite clients, Cirrus Logic. We created a beautiful pallet with a mix of greens, blues, purples and peacock feather hues for an extra pop. The Concert Floor was turned into a lounge area with specialty lighting accompanied by illuminated tallboy tables topped with colored ornaments. One of our favorite décor pieces, hands down, is the custom created, over-sized ceiling accent ball fashioned solely of peacock feathers. Custom gobos with peacock feather designs were used to cast the patterns on the walls and floor for the final touch.

Guests not only enjoyed food and cocktails catered by the W hotel, but the one-and-only SPAZMATICS took the stage for some evening entertainment. All in all- this event was one of our favorites to put together.

“I’ve never seen ACL look more beautiful than it did that night!” said the Private Events Sales Lead at the ACL Live.

We loved putting a twist on the average holiday party and included pictures below that will hopefully give you some inspiration for your next event!

Big thanks to Illuminate Photography!

Austin Tidbits Presents: The Style Masters

Fashion. Food. Fun. Friends. Forgot to mark your calendar? We have all the highlights!

We joined our long time friends, Austin Tidbits, to create a fabulous night on the town introducing Austin to the newest looks in fashion, design and art. Guests lined up outside the doors of Malverde to see what The Style Masters had to offer. These Style Guru’s showcased a variety of products including locally made jewelry, trendy fashion tops, bottoms, handbags, home décor and unique artwork. Cocktails and passed appetizers from La Condesa started off the night while the designers and artists did the rest. To jazz up things, we had cocktail tables draped in a playful yellow, mood lighting, and a DJ to bring the party to life. We are so thankful that She-n-he Photography was able to capture memories of that night, for this was one for the books! We had a great time working with Austin Tidbits and can’t wait to work with them again!

Austin’s 10 Most Eligible Bachelors of 2011

Austin Monthly-August Release Party
Presenting: Austin’s 10 Most Eligible Bachelors of 2011

Where can you find 10 eligible bachelors, an assortment of treats, snacks, complimentary cocktails, beautiful men and women, and great music all under one roof? That’s right – Austin Monthly Magazine’s Release Party. If you missed the celebration, don’t worry, just read below for all the juicy details!

With their August Bachelor Issue and the Home Issue release happening simultaneously, Austin Monthly Magazine reached out to us for some extra hands to put together an amazing event. We were thrilled to work alongside and coordinate their annual tradition. The Kennedy team collaborated with a great venue, delicious food sponsors and brought in beautiful décor pieces. The venue host for the event, Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, offered a unique twist. In the space, we created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere with lounge areas for guests to sit back and enjoy the party. The lighting produced a distinct ambiance and the lone red carpet runway leading to the main stage topped it all off. We had the bachelor’s strut down the red carpet for introductions. After all- they are the most eligible guys in town-we didn’t want the ladies to miss their chance! We truly enjoyed this event and hearing all the great things these Bachelors are doing here in Austin, Texas.

Special thanks to all involved: J Black’s, Z Tejas, Kerby Lane, Tiff’s Treats, Lick it Bite it or Both Cupcakes, Catering by Rosemary’s, Bob Bullock Texas State Museum, Grey Goose, Ilios Lighting and Altared Productions.

Sweet treats we LOVE

CakeShooters are one of our more recent discoveries and the lovely people at Sprinkles were kind enough to let us sample them. Let’s just say they were amazing! So cute in their push-pop containers and delicious too! What a great mess-free way to serve cake at weddings and events.

Another sweet treat that we just LOVE is pie. That is why we love TinyPies; they’re pies and they’re tiny, what’s not to love? They have all of the best pie flavors including Sweet Texas Pecan, Fresh Texas Peach, Dutchy’s Apple and more. Their tiny pies also come in small 3 ½ pint mason jars perfect for service to guests as a midnight treat or, hey, if you don’t really like cake, just serve some tiny pies!

For a really nontraditional sweet treat, why not do a S’mores bar? To spice it up even more you can add different flavors of chocolate bars and graham crackers. It’s a great new twist on the traditional S’mores around a campfire and will guarantee to bring a smile to everyone’s face! Hyatt Regency Lost Pines has many fire places all around it’s property—a perfect place for a S’mores bar and they even make their own marshmallows!!

A Modern 1950′s Wedding

On this crisp January morning, the bride and groom prepared for their BIG DAY in the heart of downtown Austin.

The bride’s sweeping dress elegantly wrapped to the side tied in perfectly with her modern 1950’s theme. Simple groupings of flickering candles and rose petals guide the way to the ceremony Alter. Manzanita branches with hanging votives frame the Alter with a luminous elegance.

As guests entered the reception at the beautiful Blanton Museum of Art, mini martini glasses holding escort cards greet them. Setting the mood for the evening was the stunning Rapaport Atrium with its 50-foot tall ceiling and walls made of exquisite blue marble. Vintage in style, the floral arrangements consisted of white anemone and hydrangeas accented with modern touches of green chrysanthemums illuminated at the base with LED lights. Manzanita branches with dripping crystals elegantly finish the table décor.

The Bride’s Tiffany Blue square tiered cake embellished with vintage broaches was a show stopper which guests were swooning over all evening.

The memorable night was completed with a pathway lined with family and friends lighting the night with sparklers. The newlyweds bid their farewell and hopped into a 1950’s baby blue Buick to be whisked away for the evening.

Congratulations Vanessa and Scott! Thank you for letting Weddings by Kennedy be a part of your special day!

The President’s Visit to Austin

The Democratic National Convention brought our very own President Obama to the lovely city of Austin. The event took place at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater with over 500 in attendance. Kennedy Creative was called in to provide the décor which included our light-up highboys and of course, patriotic theme colors. We love the way our country’s flag was showcased in every photo shot and camera angle. It was a pleasure and honor working on this important event.

Wedding Day Attire with Personal Pizzazz

A great way to add more than a little pizzazz to your wedding party is by playing with your bridesmaids’ outfits. I think we’ve all seen those bridesmaid dresses that are less than flattering on one or more of the poor girls. Most of the time, unless you’re all Malibu Barbie, your bridesmaids will all be shaped differently. Here are three great ways for you and your bridesmaids to have fun with wedding day wardrobe:

1. SHAPE A super fun way to play with your bridesmaid dresses is to change up the shape. Give your bridesmaids the color and length of dress you want them to find and let them chose the shape and design. This is a great way to let your girls find a great dress that they love in a shape that makes them look and feel fantastic. This also solves the problem of the “one-time-wear” bridesmaids dress. Your bridesmaids will surely be ready to dance all night long!

2. ACCESSORIES Letting your bridesmaids show their personality through their fabulous footwear is a great accent to any bridesmaids dress. With their matching dresses, vibrant unconventional shoes are a trendy addition to the modern wedding. A great advantage to your bridesmaids choosing whatever shoe they want is that they will be more likely to find a stylish but still comfortable shoe that they will be able to keep on as you all dance away the night.

3. COLOR If you are not a traditional bride and want an nontraditional bridal party, you can change things up completely by letting your girls have free rein over their wedding day attire. When having your bridesmaids wear different color dresses, make sure to stay in the same color family or in the color scheme of the wedding.

An Island Wedding with Vintage Style

When we first met Amy, we knew we were in for something special.  Amy and her fiancé, Michael, talked of their mission trips and their love of travel, so a destination wedding on the beautiful island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands was the perfect setting to celebrate this lovely couple.

From a sun kissed color palette of persimmon, gold, creams and hints of aquamarine to the bride’s vintage inspired dress, every element of the décor reflected a chic island feel.   The vintage style was even reflected in the flora that included anemones, Charlie Brown orchids, roses and white peacock feathers.  For the ceremony, we wanted the beautiful seaside to serve as the décor.  The simple touches of starfish, bamboo and an acoustic musician created an intimate setting for a sunset wedding.

We wanted the reception to be as intimate as the ceremony for the bride & groom’s 75 guests.  Held at The Westin Resort, guests were greeted with island infused music while strings of paper lanterns illuminated the evening from above.  Calligraphied sand dollars served as place cards and favors and a vintage candy bar featured sweet treats.  Delicate, hand-made gum paste anemones were flown in from Austin, TX, to add the finishing touch to the cake.

The evening wouldn’t have been complete without playing up the bohemian side of this couple!  A beach bonfire outfitted with blankets for the guests to stay cozy was the perfect way to end a perfect day.  And, in their spontaneous and romantic style, the happy couple rode off into happily ever after on their island scooter.

Congratulations Michael and Amy!  Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

A Perfect Setting for a Perfect Couple

When Anke Gannon and Captain Steven Starkey reached out to us to help plan their wedding, they contacted us from locations we had not expected:  Stuttgart, Germany and Iraq!!  Since Stephen grew up in Texas, the couple decided to have their wedding at the beautiful Red Corral Ranch in Wimberley, TX, the perfect place to combine both of their heritages in a romantic setting.

Planning a wedding with this couple was definitely an adventure.  Even though he was in Iraq, Stephen was involved in all the details.   From German traditions to Texas spice, the wedding was an affair to remember.  The rich color palette was inspired by the colors in the Groom’s military uniform.  Canary yellow, navy blue and red accents complemented the natural setting.  Hand-made items completed the décor with vintage and German tea tins housing centerpieces at each table in which guests were encouraged to take home to enjoy.  Mini potted succulents were also used to bring a touch of Texas to the reception décor and served as both place cards and favors.

With every aspect of the wedding, we wanted it to be personal and included some of Anke and Stephen’s favorite things.  The Bride & Groom’s favorite songs played as guests arrived and were ushered to the ceremony site at the center of the Labyrinth.  Sunflowers and succulents dominated the flora in the bouquets and ceremony decorations.  The bride chose a wreath of sunflowers rather than a traditional bouquet that complemented both her personality and style.  The reception was centered around the big oak tree strung with millions of twinkle lights.  Bronze and white lanterns were hung with yellow ribbon creating a romantic setting that symbolized the love that our bride and groom share.

Congratulations Anke and Stephen! Danke schon!

Perfect Match: An Elegant Wedding for an Elegant Couple

Kennedy Creative recently had the opportunity to throw a Texas dream wedding at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa. Sara and Jordan lived a block from each other in Midland, TX their whole lives, so a ceremony in the beautiful Texas Hill Country was the perfect setting.

The moment Sara laid eyes on the Lost Pines Ballroom she fell in love with the butterfly chandeliers and the moment we met the happy couple we fell in love with them! The entire wedding was designed to match the couple’s simple and elegant personality. In the outdoor Pavilion, where the ceremony was held, we chose pastels as the color scheme and boxwood as the ceremony décor.  Sara didn’t want to be the center of attention, she wanted the mood of the ceremony and reception to stand out above all else.  The boxwood is a traditional Midland, TX natural element and they loved the fresh, vibrant color and simplicity of the wreaths to bring in a touch of “home.”

The reception had a rustic yet romantic feel with soft hues of creams, yellows and pinks. Florals emphasized texture and femininity with curly willow bringing in elements of nature and organic style. A custom candy bar was adorned with handmade S + J cones hanging on iron trees that the guests could fill to bring home fanciful old-fashioned candy in apothecary jars that fit the couple’s décor.

The 9 piece band Blind Date Austin rocked the reception and Studio 563 Photography captured the most amazing moments of the couple and their guests by literally dancing all night on the dance floor with them to get those great in-the-moment shots. Both the bride and groom having graduated from UT, it was only right that we added a little something to show that Texas spirit. In addition to a romantic 5-tier Bridal cake, Coco Paloma created a second cake that was a phenomenally accurate construction of the UT Stadium.

Go Longhorns and congratulations Sara and Jordan!
